Henry Soderlund

Biography

Henry Soderlund is a Chief Air Safety Investigator with Textron Aviation. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Technology from LeTourneau University in 1996. While in school, he worked as an aircraft maintenance technician for the university’s flight department, helping maintain the school’s fleet of Pipers, a Beechcraft 55 Baron, a Cessna 150, and a Citabria. During the summers, he worked as a Lockheed L-1011 maintenance technician for an air freight company. After graduating from LeTourneau, Henry worked as a flight instructor and traffic reporter pilot.

In 1997, he started working for Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, as an aircraft maintenance technician at the Wichita Citation Service Center. In 1998, he transferred to the Air Safety Investigations department as an Associate Air Safety Investigator. With the creation of Textron Aviation in 2014, the Air Safety Investigations department began supporting Cessna, Beechcraft, and Hawker aircraft accident investigations.

Over the course of his career, he has participated in over 350 field investigations, both foreign and domestic, involving aircraft from two-seat piston engine airplanes to corporate jets. He has been the lead company investigator on the NTSB go-team and major field investigations and their foreign equivalents.

In 2002, he received a Masters of Aeronautical Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Henry holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate for single-engine land aircraft with an instrument rating and is a Certificated Flight Instructor. He also holds Airframe and Powerplant certificates along with an Inspection Authorization.
